CEALVET receives the seal of innovative SME for its projects in Development
In 2021, Cealvet is awarded the Innovative SME seal by the Ministry of Science and Innovation thanks to the Eurostars 2020 R&D project: "Development of new integrated technologies against multi-resistant pathogens in broilers" together with its project partners ADM Biopolis and Pancosma. Cealvet, through the development, research and marketing of its own products and distribution of high-quality products, is committed to innovation and new technologies as the true engines to improve the quality of life and animal welfare, maximizing their growth and productive performance. The common objective of the project is to study and investigate new solutions to combat the main pathogens that annually cause serious economic losses in the poultry industry. In this project, three partners (ADM Biopolis and Pancosma) share their knowledge and experience to contribute to the improvement of human and animal health, promoting research that allows determining the most optimal bacterial strains, together with the most suitable methods of administration in modern bird strains under intensive production. The Innovative SME seal is granted to CEALVET to strengthen the capacity for innovation and create value in the market in a sustainable [...]
CEALVET, awarded with “Premio Nacional de Investigación, Ciencia e Innovación Isaac Peral”
Tesa Panisello, veterinarian, founder and director of CEALVET, received the Premio Nacional de Investigación, Ciencia e Innovación Isaac Peral (Isaac Peral National Prize for Research, Science and Innovation) on 28 May as representative of CEALVET, a company dedicated to the research, development, control and commercialisation of products for animal health and nutrition. The award was given by the European Association for Economy and Competitiveness, which recognised the research work carried out by CEALVET, highlighting its commitment to innovation as an essential element in the development of its professional strategy. CEALVET has recently published five research articles and is working on two lines of research: the development of new products that improve animal welfare in order to maximise their performance; and the study of chicken vocalisations to detect acoustic patterns that allow us to determine their level of welfare. This second line of research is carried out together with the Media Technologies Research Group (GTM) of La Salle Campus Barcelona - Universitat Ramon Llull. In addition, they are also collaborating together in the doctoral thesis of Gerard Ginovart, doctoral [...]
Preliminary Acoustic Analysis of Farm Management Noise and Its Impact on Broiler Welfare
Gerardo José Ginovart-Panisello and Rosa Ma Alsina-Pagès Farm management practices done by machinery generate a high acoustical impact on animals. The acoustic variations in terms of equivalent level (Leq) and the different types of noise can affect the well-being of broilers by means of reducing the food and water ingest. In this work, we create a dataset in which we conduct a preliminary analysis of the acoustical impact generated by the farm management in an intensive broiler poultry farm of 25,000 birds. The project collects acoustic data during the first two weeks of the birds life, focusing the study on the first week. To create the dataset, we randomly select some files from each day of the study and they are analysed and labelled manually using an audio analysis software. The acoustical events defined in collaboration with the farmer and vet are the fan and the food and water supply, and definitions are based on duration, impact, and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The analysis concludes that the main acoustical source in a broilers’ farm is the fan, [...]
Early Nutrition – Licuicel Complex
The Importance of Early Nutrition in Broiler Chickens: LICUICEL COMPLEX, an innovative Feeding System Silvia Riva Cealvet SLu, C/Sant Josep de la Montanya 50-B, 43500 Tortosa, Spain; silviar@cealvet.es Poultry industry constitutes one of the most significant segments of the agricultural and veterinary sector worldwide. For this reason, one of its main objectives is to improve not only the quantity but also the quality of the offered product. Over the year, the abuse of antibiotics as growth promoters has led to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains, imposing the need to find alternative solutions for animal welfare and for gastrointestinal diseases prevention, finding confirmation in the use of pre and probiotics. Various stressors, together with feed deprivation during the first few hours of chicks’ life increase the chance of disease contraction and mortality. This is why we want to propose an innovative feeding system to be used immediately after hatching directly into the incubation room. LICUICEL COMPLEX is a complementary feed that provides all the nutrients and additives needed by chicks’ in their first hours of [...]
